Our Privacy Commitment
Stockerboard believes privacy is fundamental to trust. We collect only what is strictly necessary to provide our research tools, avoid intrusive behavioral tracking, and never monetize personal user data.
Data Storage Architecture: Dual-Mode Operation
1. Anonymous / Guest Mode (Local-First)
When you visit Stockerboard without signing in:
- Your watchlists, starred companies, and active visual theme preferences (
stockerboard_theme) are stored exclusively in your browser's local storage (localStorage). - No personal identifying information, IP logs, or watchlists are transmitted to or stored on a Stockerboard cloud database.
- Clearing your browser cache or using the in-app clear utility immediately wipes your local data.
2. Authenticated Mode (Optional Cloud Sync)
Users who wish to synchronize their watchlists across multiple devices may optionally sign in using Google Sign-In:
- Authentication is handled securely via Firebase Authentication (Google identity provider).
- When signed in, your public Google profile information (name, email address, avatar URL) and your synced stock watchlist array are stored in a secured Google Cloud Firestore database (under collection
users/{uid}). - This data is used solely to keep your personal watchlist synchronized between your sessions.
Deleting your Stockerboard data
Signed-in users can remove their Stockerboard cloud data from within the application at any time:
- In-App Deletion: Clicking 'Delete Stockerboard Data' in the account menu immediately removes your user document stored in Firestore (including your synced watchlist, name, and email), clears Stockerboard watchlist data stored in this browser, and signs you out of the application.
- Authentication Identity: This action does not delete the user's Google account or Firebase Authentication identity. If you wish to revoke Google account sign-in permissions permanently, you can manage linked application permissions directly in your Google Account Security Dashboard.
Telemetry & Google Analytics 4 (GA4)
Stockerboard uses Google Analytics 4 (Measurement ID: G-STOCKERBOARD) to monitor platform reliability, aggregate page view counts, and track high-level feature usage (such as screener preset clicks).
- GA4 collects aggregate, pseudonymized telemetry such as browser type, operating system, and general geographic region.
- We do not pass personally identifiable financial information, broker account numbers, or individual trading histories to Google Analytics.
Hosting & Third-Party Services
Stockerboard is hosted statically on GitHub Pages. Cloud data synchronization and authentication services are provided by Google Cloud (Firebase Authentication and Firestore).
No Brokerage or Financial Credentials
Stockerboard never asks for, handles, or stores trading account passwords, demat credentials, bank account numbers, or PAN records.
